We Just Returned and Here’s A Quick Review…

My wife and I just returned from a fantastic Antarctica cruise, the only way the average vacationer will ever experience it.

When traveling to Antarctica you will very likely be making your final flight connection (3 hours) to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost airport, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. From Ushuaia you will board your ship for the final leg of your epic journey. This is also the southern part of the region known as Patagonia.

Buenos Aires is a highly recommended extension of your journey to Antarctica. It is a culturally rich and vibrant oceanside city (home of the Tango) 2 time zones ahead of EST and requires roughly a 24 hour door-to-door trip. Interestingly, it is located at the same latitude as where we live (Southport, North Carolina) with an identical warm ocean current pattern, so the climate is very similar. Its metro population is approximately 16 million, 60% larger than the state of North Carolina!
